Alvin Childs has 50 plus years of commercial real estate experience, including the development and/or renovation of office and retail projects and the acquisition and syndication of retail, office, and industrial real estate properties in Northwest Louisiana. Childs co-developed Shoppes at Bellemead, the region’s only lifestyle retail center with Chico’s, WhiteHouse|BlackMarket, Ann Taylor Loft, Soma Intimates, James Avery, and Talbots.
Childs is actively involved in the continuing growth and betterment of the Shreveport/Bossier City community. He has served as the President of the Shreveport Chamber of Commerce, President of the Committee of One Hundred, Chairman of Sci-Port Discovery Museum, Chairman of the Downtown Development Authority, and President of the Council on Alcoholism & Drug Abuse of NW Louisiana (“CADA”). He has also served as a Board member for the Greater Shreveport Economic Development Foundation, the Neighborhood Housing Services, the Shreveport Symphony and the Shreveport Summer Music Festival. In 1982 he was elected a Rising Young Business Leader. He served as a member of the Mineral Board of the State of Louisiana from 1988-1992. He was named Business Person of the Year by the Shreveport Chamber of Commerce in 2014. He enjoys early morning runs with friends, ran his first marathon in 2018 in Dublin with his daughter, and is an avid vegetable gardener.
Alvin Childs, Jr. is a graduate of Washington & Lee University with a B.S. in Commerce. He is married to Lisa O’Neal Childs, has three children, William, Lex, and Claire, and six grandchildren. He is a Certified Commercial Investment Member (CCIM), a recognized professional in commercial real estate brokerage, leasing, asset management, valuation, and investment analysis.
